GutTracker™
-
GutTracker consists of wireless, wearable electrode patches that read electrical signals at the skin surface, a smartphone app that collects the raw data from the patches via Bluetooth and sends data to a secure cloud server, and data analysis algorithms that process and quantify the motor activity of the digestive organs.
-
GutTracker is an FDA-cleared medical device that must be used under the supervision of physicians.

An EKG for the Gut
The GutTracker patches detect myoelectric signals produced by the GI system in a similar fashion to how EKG patches detect electric signals from the heart. The GI signals are assigned to each organ based on frequency. For instance, the stomach has a well-known rhythmic frequency of 3 cycles per minute that appears as an easily identifiable narrow peak in the frequency spectrum. Multi-day, noninvasive motility signals provide new information to help physicians assess a patient’s condition. For example, the GutTracker provides overall activity of each organ, helping clinicians determine whether each organ’s motility is low, high or normal.Representative GutPrint

Physician Decision Support
-
Gastroenterologists must be detectives, using diagnostic tools to identify clues which often fail to deliver definitive, actionable information. With up to six days of uninterrupted data collection from the stomach, intestines, and colon – GutTracker delivers a comprehensive data set and offers clinicians the opportunity to streamline the diagnostic process when compared to existing methods.
-
Use cases include Gastroparesis Syndrome (GpS), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and other Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders (FGIDs), as well as the determination of motility during recovery from abdominal and other surgeries.
Current Status
Over 800 tests have been conducted with GutTracker in clinical studies at leading US hospitals. G-Tech has published at least 7 clinical articles and given over 30 presentations at medical conferences. Current areas of research focus include Gastroparesis Syndrome, Crohn’s Disease, constipation and patients recovering from abdominal surgeries. GutTracker has received 510(k) clearance from the US FDA and is now commercially available.Watch the G-Tech Team Describe their Mission in a Video Produced by the Kenneth Rainin Foundation
